Humble beginnings
Starting out in 1981 with US$ 250, Infosys has grown exponentially to reach a Market Capitalisation in NASDAQ alone of over US$ 27billion.

The result- customers keep coming back and over 90% of Infosys’ clients are repeat customers. Narayana Murthy considers Human Resources as the greatest asset of the company. The “mutually exclusive but collectively exhaustive” rule applies to all teams in order to solve all problems and minimise outsourcing of any sort of development needs.

Narayana Murthy believes in applying the principles he practices to his personal life and his business governance practices. Infosys has pioneered the Employee Stock Options in India and Narayana Murthy believes in sharing his wealth with his employees turning some into millionaires, thus increasing employee retention.

Despite the fact that he was a man of small beginnings, Narayana Murthy has not stayed there. He has a closely knit family still believes in frugal living. Narayana Murthy has fulfilled his desire of creating the opportunity for quality employment in society increasing the quality of life and making a difference in the Indian software industry.
