Internet Explorer

Fast Scroll: To scroll quickly, press the down arrow to move down one line at a time or hit the space bar or Page Down button to move down a page at a time. Hit PageUp to jump up a page, or Home to go to the top (beginning) of the document.

Clearing Up: To open the Internet Options dialog box quickly, press Alt-T, then the O key. This is a handy shortcut when you want to delete your History, clear the cache or change your default home page. The dialog box appears, ready for your next command.

Quick view: A great way to view a web page and fast is to click Start and then choose the Run command. Type in the Web address you want to open, and then click the OK button. Or you can whack the Enter key. This will fire up IE and open that Web site too.

Tabbing Around: Remember, the Tab key is your friend. And keyboard shortcuts are always faster than using a mouse. To jump through the links on a Web page, Address bar, or items on the Links bar, just click Tab. To jump backward, use Shift-Tab instead

Fix shortcuts: Occasionally a program that you install decided to associate itself with the HTML files. Try our quick fix. Press Shift and right-click an HTML file (any one on your computer will do). From the pop-up menu that appears, choose Open With for the Open With dialog box. From the list, select iexplore. Select "Always use this program to open this type of file". Click the OK button to finish.

Cache Tips: IE's cache stores versions of previously browsed pages on your hard drive for speedy retrieval. To change your cache settings, select Tools--Internet Options, and then click the General tab. Click the Settings button and make a selection under "Check for newer versions of stored pages". If you always want to make sure you're seeing the most recent pages, you can override these settings. Just click the Refresh button or press F5.

Dump IT: Your Internet cache uses valuable disk space. And you can live dangerously by dumping it. Click Tools, Internet Options. The Internet Options dialog box appears. Select the General tab (if it's not already selected). Click the Delete files button to get back a good bit of disk space. Then click OK to finish up. Empty disk space awaits you.

Easy Search: Internet Explorer lets you search all search engines at the same time. Click the Search icon in the toolbar, then click the Customize button in the Search Bar. Select "Use the Search Assistant for Smart Searching" in the resulting dialog box. Select all the search engines you want to use and click the OK button. Next time you do a search and the default search engine doesn't give you what you're looking for, simply click Next in the Search toolbar, and you'll see the results from another search engine. Keep clicking Next to see the results from all your chosen search engines.
