Changing Role Of A Ceo

Scrutinising work in a company takes place till the highest level. Believe it or not, even CEO’s are not spared from it. Top CEOs of leading companies find themselves increasingly under a microscope. Those in and outside the business community judge every decision taken. CEOs may not always enjoy the pressure but it comes with the job.

Today corporations wield enormous power. With power comes responsibility. At present, many CEOs define their responsibility to first and foremost their shareholders, then their employees and customers.

In the next few years, we believe, CEOs role will be recognised as having an important impact in society. Thus a CEOs role whether he likes it or not will be similar to that of a political leader.

It is important to work in the front line which high profile CEOs miss out on. Those who work in small and medium-sized companies, with limited resources. They are of the opinion that issues are ‘sorted out’.

Good business is about engaging with the people.

Getting agreement on the fundamental goals and values is a long process.

The results are not definitive. The job is evolving. What emerges is that there is not one best way. There is no definitive list of what it takes to be a CEO. It is a multi-faceted, complex and demanding role. It is also the most important job anyone in the world of management is ever likely to get.
