PLACES TO STAY

Hotel accommodation is expensive compared to other Indian metros. But there are any number of hotels to suit all tastes in Delhi right from budget to deluxe five star.

RESIDENTIAL ACCOMODATION

Popular areas:

Residential areas considered "elite" for the well heeled like South Extension and Hauz Khas are in demand but naturally expensive. Middle class housing has moved to the suburbs. Government-allotted flats are often sublet to tenants but the terms may be dicey. People nowadays prefer to live in far away suburbs, in spite of uneven communications ( roads, etc). New colonies have come up over the past couple of years in and around these areas.

Real estate costs are comparitively high, but commensurate with the average pay offered by the companies. Rentals for a typical Two-bedroom flat in Noida would begin at Rs 5,000 per month. Rental norms in Delhi are rigid. Generally prospective tenants are asked to sign a 11 month agreement to be renewed yearly.
