Air : Bangalore airport is 10 km from the city. Transport from the airport is by taxi, autorickshaw and bus. The prepaid taxis are convenient. Buses also run to the city. Bangalore is also well connected by rail, with trains from Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai etc. The main railway station is conveniently located in the city and onward transport is no problem. On some routes the Cantonment railway station is closer to the center of the city. A rickshaw from the station to the city centre wouldn't cost more than Rs 25. The large bus terminal called Majestic is very close. Road: Bangalore is well connected by road to all the major cities. But a consequence of sudden growth of the city is inadequate public transport infrastructure. This is a sore point in Bangalore. The city was not designed for the sudden expansion and as a consequence, traffic jams are usual. Buses are overcrowded. In the opinion of experienced residents either a car or two wheeler is a must for daily commuting: autorickshaws are the next best alternative. They are supposed to ply by meter, the minimum meter charge is 7 rupees for the first two kilometers and then 3.60 each additional km. AREA:
