Budget 2001
Indiainfoline.com
Indiainfoline is currently carrying a Budget 2001 Special. Click on it
and move to the most comprehensive discussion on the budget. News, opinions,
reviews, past budgets, Mamta Banerjee's stand and jargon you don't understand.
Is aluminium your line of work? Then you'd be interested in the fact that
Budget 2001's impact on your industry is neutral. And basic excise and
customs duties remain the same. It's not just aluminium though, there's
software, pharma, cosmetics, cigarettes and more.

EconomicTimes.com
India's leading financial daily is counting down to Budget 2001, with
tidbits on Budget- related stuff. If you're bitten by nostalgia, you can
view budgets and speeches from 1996 onwards. The Budget glossary is where
you should go to learn a thing or two. You can read NASSCOM's and CII's
wish list, on what they think the budget should look like. Look for an
e-mail hot line to the Finance Minister or the Chief Economic Advisor
at the bottom of the page.

Myiris.com
Minus the visual appeal, you will find pre-2001 budget analysis in good
quality and detail here. The Macro view is interesting. And lists the
best and worst of the economy today. So is Budget Trivia. It tells you
that the Indian Constitution does not even use the word budget, when referring
to the annual event some of us look forward to. The term actually used
is Annual Financial Statement!

Indya.com
Indya.com has a neat, uncluttered budget run up, which looks like something
you and I can identify with. Just make a wish - you want sugar off the
PDS or a higher standard deduction for women, and the Finance Minister
will receive your wish list. Easy reads on how the budget and subsidies
and deficits affect the individual will appeal to budget novices.

India.com
Don't count on your first impression of the site; it carries an informative
and wholesome view of Budget 2001. It hosts political views on the budget,
a first of sorts. The features are all budget-related and interesting.
For instance, how apt financial allocation can help earthquake-hit Gujarat.
Survey 2000 covers issues like infrastructure and social sector policy.
You will find the Learning Centre impressive with easy comprehension on
topics such as 'The budget: Preparation & enactment.'

features on site like 'Budget 2001:What to expect', it plans to cover
live the event starting 28th February at 10.30 am. Regular news feeds

Business
Standard.com
Business Standard's existing budget talk is limited to briefings on various
industries and their respective opinions on issues concerning them. The
basic telecom sector, for instance, would like an extension of their tax
holiday for another five years, up to 31 March 2005. Close to 40 sectors,
you'll find a vast variety, from advertising to the ice-cream and cement.

5Paisa.com
The Railway Budget and sector previews are featured well here. Its Budget
corner, in effect, links you to the Indiainfoline.com budget page. Well,
if you're a registered user at 5paise, then you have the benefit of both,
its regular general sector reviews and Indiainfoline's budget orientation.

This Ministry of Finance site will also make available the Union Budget

of Budget 2000) will be a detailed document on the highlights, the speech,
the Annual Financial Statement, the Finance Bill, the Memorandum, the
Receipts and Expenditure budget, and Customs and Excise notifications.

by traffic when we did this review and were unavailable.
