Pressure from shareholders to increase shareholder value and reduce capital investments in
non-revenue producing assets,
pressure from customers to improve service at lower costs,
a refocusing on core competencies, and the emergence of more than 500 providers of third-party
logistics services has placed the question of if, when, and how to use third-party logistics
services and assets squarely in front of every large, medium, and small logistics organization.
The pressure to outsource has never been greater, yet the risk of service interruptions due to
increasing competition in all channels in all industries has never been greater. Toward that end,
this course is an intense one-day program presenting a methodology for deciding if, when, and
how to deploy third-party logistics services.
The course includes: an overview of the third-party logistics marketplace; an assessment of the pros,
cons, and correct applications for third-party logistics; a methodology for building the business
case for third-party logistics; case studies in third-party logistics; and, tips and techniques for
third-party relationship management.
