Going to Canada

One of the largest countries with a population of a mere 29 million people, Canada is actively looking for immigrants. Not only is it easier to immigrate to Canada than to other lands of opportunity, it is also probably one of the most attractive countries in which to live. A recent survey done by the UN stated that Canada is one of the best countries to live in.

Canadian Employment Authorisation (employer sponsorship)

A non-Canadian candidate who wishes to seek employment can qualify for Independent Immigration under the points system. Independent immigration takes a long time to process, and any urgently required staff will probably have to be transferred using visas sponsored by the employer.

Time to obtain visa - 2 to 6 weeks.

Uses
Employers who wish to bring in senior managers/executives frequently use this category. It can also be used to employ highly skilled individuals to fill a vacancy that has been validated to show that, despite significant recruitment efforts, it has not been possible to find a suitably skilled Canadian permanent resident. The following categories of foreign workers do not need to be validated by a Human Resource Centre:

• Senior managers or executives seeking to enter Canada as intra-company transferees.

• Musicians and performers who have a contract to perform in Canada.

• Volunteers who have been offered positions with registered Canadian religious or charitable organisations.

• Exchange Professors.

• Post-doctoral fellows.

• Film crews going to film documentaries or travelogues in Canada

• Engineers or technicians going to supervise the installation of equipment sold by their company to a Canadian purchaser or going to repair or service such equipment.

Dependants
The spouses of those with work authorisation will need to have their own work authorisation to be able to work in Canada. Children of school age can apply for student authorisation for entry to Canada.

Data required
Completed form, Job offer, qualifications, and employer references. If required you will also need a validation from a Canadian Human Resources Centre.
