WORK CULTURE

People in the USA are usually required to work for 5 days a week. At work, people are formal, responsible, and they appreciate the value of time and effort put in for a job. A careless attitude is frowned upon. In this highly computerized society where all facilities (Telephones, Airways, Restaurants, Banks, etc.) are prompt and accurate, it is always better to be short and specific in all details. Americans expect you to keep commitments and appointments. Everybody reports to work punctually.

EDUCATION

Quality of education in the USA varies, although basic illiteracy has been almost eliminated in the US. Approx. 20% of all education is required between the ages of 5 and 16. Each child is given compulsory admission in the school of the district or town of residence. School years are sub divided into :
Pre School Elementary (KG to V)
Junior High (VI to IX)
Senior High (IX to XII)
Uniforms are usually private and canteens are in the campus. If school is within 1 mile of the child's residence the school bus will not pick up the child. Public School - Fees $ 50 approx. per child per month.
Private School - Fees $ 400 - 500 approx. per child per month.
Public, Primary and Secondary education is mostly locally funded.
Of the nation's institutions of higher education about 60% are 4 Year Institutes. The remaining 40% are 2 Year Schools. Privately operated institutions include many of the nations most prestigious universities and colleges. Together they enroll about 20% of all higher - education students. Public Institutions enroll about 80% of all higher education students. Each state operates a University system. Teacher associations in the USA feel education deserves more attention and funds. Teachers don't really get great salaries.
