   Programs - MSc Corporate Governance


Aims
The MSc in Corporate Governance critically considers the dynamics of how businesses are ethically governed balanced to the needs of high business performance and the demands of financial markets. It evaluates how leaders lead and focuses on the critical role of the board at establishing the vision and values of the organisation. Based in the European Centre for Corporate Governance the MSc has a unique focus on executive and boardroom decision making at both SME and MNE levels and critically focuses on the key role a director plays in enhancing board performance and input in shaping their organisation.

Who Should Attend
The programme is particularly relevant for those working at or aspiring to work at board level in either the public or private sector. The programme will also be beneficial for those wishing to gain a sound understanding of the legal and financial duties and responsibilities facing directors today to help them lead their organisations more effectively. The programme is an ideal programme for post-MBA graduates, enabling you to build an executive board level profile on top of your current skills.

Exemptions and Advanced Standing
Those holding an MBA can gain exemption for up to three modules on the programme, likewise those holding other professional qualifications can also apply for exemption to selected core modules.

What to Expect - Module Outline (20 Credits)

  • Entrepreneurial Leadership; enables you to critical examine your personal capabilities in context to leadership and management style and clear identification of your personal development needs.
  • Financial Management; provides you with an understanding of financial management techniques including the development of business planning within an enterprise to support effective decision-making.
  • Strategic Management; enables you to examine the strategic planning process; its evaluation of risk and identification of critical success factors (CSF) to ensure effective business performance.
  • The Board & Good Governance; allows you to critically evaluate the legal duties of directors and the board and consider essential differences between the directors, managers, and owners of a business.
  • Corporate Stakeholder & Engagement Management; enables you to evaluate essential differences, issues and complex relationships between organisations and diverse stakeholder groups including clients, customers and employees.
  • Corporate Governance & Leadership: enables you to critical evaluate the impact of corporate leadership and governance principles and practice on organisational in response to dynamic changes in the social, economic and environmental duties and responsibilities.

What to Expect - Action Learning Dissertation (60 credits):
Independently, but supported by colleagues in action learning set, you will develop your own research project in a consultancy area of interest.

Entry Requirements:
All candidates for the MSc must be able to demonstrate an ability to benefit from, and contribute to, the programme. Normally we require delegates to be graduates however suitable work experience can qualify.
