Quality
Initiative:
GBTS recognizes the importance of quality in meeting customer requirements,
and will therefore be instituting stringent quality assurance and control
measures. The quality systems at GBTS will match the best in the world,
and contribute significantly to its performance and growth. GBTS adopts
a process-oriented approach to project execution, based on TQM concepts,
to meet its quality goals.
GBTS will aim for ISO 9001/TickIt certification. Quality standards at
GBTS will be constantly benchmarked against global best practices, and
at the outset GBTS aims to operate at Level 3 of the Capability Maturity
Model (CMM) of the Software Engineering Institute, which evaluates Development,
Re-engineering and Maintenance processes across the enterprise.
GBTS Quality
System
The quality culture at GBTS will be founded on well-evolved quality systems
such as the Quality Systems Documentation (QSD), Process Database and
the Organizational Knowledge Database. The Quality Systems Documentation
is a comprehensive repository of all software life cycle and project management
processes.
Every project at GBTS will have a software quality advisor (SQA) to ensure
objectivity to quality goals. Quality assurance is being built into the
software development process and ensured by methodologies, standards and
procedures during the entire software development cycle. We insist on
use of tools for test coverage analysis, complexity analysis, release
management, configuration management and problem tracking, to ensure effective
implementation of the QA process.
The importance of experiential knowledge in acquiring technical expertise
and providing customer value cannot be overstated. The GBTS quality system
will foster organization-wide sharing of such experiential knowledge.
All quality systems are being made available on the organization wide
Intranet. GBTS' ability to commit to, and consistently deliver, superior
quality software solutions will hinge on these quality systems.
Project Risk Management
GBTS project management processes emphasize project risk management. The
objective of project risk management is to identify risk conditions,
prioritize them based on their impact

goals, identify,
plan, and execute mitigation steps, and track risks during the entire
project life. This ensures that customers are always appraised of project
risks and measures taken by GBTS to mitigate them.
The status of risks will
be continuously tracked using a regular, standardized status-reporting
mechanism.
