Participatory
Orientation
Normally community develpoment projects where the local people themselves
are involved by contributing cash, tools, land, materials, labour etc.
Cooperatives are a classic example of such an NGO. (eg The AMUL Model)
Empowering
Orientation
This types of NGO aims to provide aid to people with a full understanding
of the social, political and economic factors affecting their lives.(EQUATIONS
& Mahiti)

Level of Operations
Community-based
Organizations
Arise out of people's initiatives. These include sanything froma a sports
clubs to educational organizations. Most of them are national or international
NGOs, agencies, and other form of help.
Citywide Organizations
Many of such organisation exist to help the poor ot address specific
issues related to them. Such organisation includes the Rotary or lion's
Club, chambers of commerce andindustry, coalitions of business, ethnic
or educational groups and associations of community organizations.
National NGOs
Includes organizations such as the Red Cross, YMCAs/ YWCAs, professional
organizations etc.
International
NGOs
Include agencies such as OXFAM, CARE, Ford and Rockefeller Foundations.
Their activities range from funding local NGOs to implementing their
own projects.
