In a smaller organisation you could start at a salary of Rs 3000 to Rs 3800 per month. Those hired as personnel and labour welfare officers can draw a starting pay of Rs 7000 or more.

In the U.S the salary level for an MSW is around $30,000 annually. On an average social workers working in the government can draw about $44,000 per year (1995) .
