The Program
This research-based programme leads to the award of the degree of Master of Engineering and is available in the following departments in the Faculty of Engineering:

Eligibility for Application

All candidates for the M.Eng. program should possess one of the following qualifications: 
  1. A bachelor's degree with honours (at least 2nd Class) or its equivalent
  2. A bachelor's degree with honours (at least an Upper 2nd Class or its equivalent), for candidates applying for Research Scholarship
Candidate should have the ability to pursue research in the candidate's proposed field of advanced study.
 
Period of Candidature
The minimum and maximum period of candidature for M.Eng. is one year and three years  respectively.
 
Important Dates
Foreign candidates can register as research scholars and undertake the M.Eng. programme in either July or January each year.

Coursework Requirements
Candidates are required to conduct research in their area of interest and submit a thesis before the maximum period of candidature for examination. Besides the research requirement, candidates must also attend a prescribed number of courses which the supervisor thinks will be useful for the candidate. It is a requirement that M.Eng. students should take two and four courses respectively, unless the University has granted exemption.

All subjects must be taken and passed within the maximum period of candidature. Students must not fail in more than 1 subject or fail in the same subject twice. If a student fails in 1 subject, he/she may be permitted to repeat the subject in which he/she has failed, or take an alternative subject. For fulfillment of the coursework component of the research degree, M.Eng. students must obtain an average of at least B- and must pass at least 2 modules (non-CELC modules) or its equivalent of 8 modular credits. Only grade C and above can be used to compute the best 2 modules (or its equivalent of 8 modular credits) for fulfillment of the coursework requirements.

The English language requirement is to be considered separately. CELC modules are excluded from the computation of the average grade for fulfillment of coursework requirement.

All courses are conducted in the evenings from 1800hrs to 2100hrs from Mondays to Fridays. Candidates should discuss with their supervisor(s), the type of courses that they would be required to attend.
  
Language of Instruction
The language of instruction for the graduate courses is English.
 
English Language Requirements
Applicants whose degrees are from institutions where English is not the main medium of communication, are required to take the English Language Proficiency Test for Postgraduate Students.
 
GRE/GATE Tests
Graduates from Indian Universities may send either GRE or GATE score sheets.

The SoC research-based program leads to the award of Master of Science (MSc) degree and is available in the following departments:

Eligibility for Application
All candidates for the Faculty of Science and SoC MSc programs should possess one of the following qualifications:    
  • A bachelor's degree with honors (at least 2nd Class) or its equivalent
  • A bachelor's degree with honors (at least an Upper 2nd Class or its equivalent), for candidates applying for Research Scholarship
Candidate should have the ability to pursue research in the candidate's proposed field of advanced study.

Unless exempted by the Director of Graduate Division, Faculty of Science or the Director of Graduate Division, School of Computing; applicants for research scholarship must achieve a minimum score of 580 for TOEFL, and have high scores in both the quantitative and analytical sections of the GRE test.

    
Period of Candidature
The minimum and maximum period of candidature for MSc is one year and three years respectively. Only under exceptional circumstance could the candidate be permitted to submit his/her thesis before the minimum period, or after the maximum period of candidature.

It is a requirement that MSc students should take a minimum of two and four courses respectively, unless the University has granted exemption. Candidates are also required to attain an average grade of B (or better) for the coursework requirement (2 courses for M.Sc and 4 courses for Ph.D). In the event that the average grade of B is not attained, the candidate may (at the discretion of the school) be required to take extra courses to meet the minimum expected grade.
  
All graduate-level courses are conducted in the evenings (after 1800 hr) from Mondays to Fridays, and during the daytime on Saturday. Candidates should discuss with their supervisor(s) on the type of courses that they are required to attend.

  
Language of Instruction 
The language of instruction for the graduate courses is English.
  
English Language Requirements
Applicants whose degrees are from institutions where English is not the main medium of communication are required to take the English Language Proficiency Test that is conducted by the University for Postgraduate Students. The result of this test will be used to determine appropriate remedial English course(s) to enroll, where applicable.

Program of Study: Faculty of Business Administration 
                             
-- Master of Science in Management (M.Sc. Mgt.) Program
    
The Program
This  research-based  program  leads  to  the  award  of  the  Master  of  Science  in Management ( MSc. Mgt. )  degree  and  is  available  at  the  Faculty  of   Business Administration ( FBA ). The TLI-AP MSc Mgt. candidate will specialize in a specialized research area pertaining to Logistics. 
   
Eligibility for Application
Applicants for the MSc Mgt. program must be graduates of this University or other universities approved by the Senate. Applicants should typically have a strong and relevant undergraduate record.
  
All applicants (except NUS BBA Honours students admitted to the Accelerated MSc Mgt. Program should have a high score on the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). The test must have been taken within three years of the proposed date of admission. There shall be no waiver of this score requirement.
  
Applicants (except NUS BBA Honours students admitted to the Accelerated MSc (Mgt) Program) will typically be interviewed either in Singapore by our Faculty Research Scholarship Committee or overseas through the Vice-Dean (Research and Graduate Studies) Office. During the interview, the applicant will usually be required to write a short English essay and also converse in English with the interviewer. Basic proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
  
Period of Candidature
Candidates for MSc Mgt. are subject to a minimum period of candidature of 12 months and a maximum of 36 months.
   
Important Dates
The University operates on two regular semesters beginning in July each academic year. While research seminars are held round the year, classroom courses are available only during the semesters. Semester I typically starts on the second week of July and lasts for 18 weeks till mid-November, including an orientation week at the beginning and a one-week mid-semester recess. Semester II typically starts on the first week of January and lasts for 17 weeks till end-April, including a one-week mid-semester recess. MSc Mgt. students, including those from overseas, are expected to matriculate by July. In exceptional cases, students may also matriculate in January. Potential applicants, especially those overseas, should plan carefully so as to arrive in Singapore and matriculate on time.
    
Coursework Requirements
ALL MSc Mgt. students are required to take graded examinations in graduate level courses over their first 2 semesters (except NUS BBA Honours students admitted to the Accelerated MSc Mgt. Program). Waiver of any such course requirement is an exception. During the first semester, students will read 3 out of 4 foundation research courses. As the courses are conducted in English, students whose first language is not English must take an English Language Course during the first semester unless a waiver is granted. During the second semester, the students will read 2 courses in their specialized field. Students must pass the examinations and maintain a satisfactory grade in order to remain in good standing in the programs. The examination grading system is A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, D+, D and F.

The language of instruction for the graduate courses is English.
  
English Language Requirements
Applicants who obtained their degrees from universities where English was not the main medium of communication MUST submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score sheet or request Educational Testing Services (E.T.S.) to send original TOEFL scores to NUS. TSE and TWE scores will be assessed as part of TOEFL. Applicants who do not have TSE and TWE scores will be assessed on spoken and written English by a faculty member, and this may delay processing of their applications.
   
GRE/GMAT Requirements
