ACCOMMODATION
Normally most of the companies provide fully furnished accommodation
in Oman. A typical 2 bedroom flat in a good locality would be
RO 180-250 per month.
LIVING
in Oman
Food is hygienic with strict control on the quality of the product.
North Indian and South Indian food is available in all areas.
Interestingly , in Oman the range of Indian food available is
very large with all regions being represented. Quality foodstuff
and products are available to suit the Indian taste in all departmental
stores. Approximately for a family with one kid it would cost
around RO 75-150 per month towards food. Clothes, footwear and
books are very expensive and it is preferable to buy these in
India.
VEHICLE
According to experienced residents of long standing , the best
choice is a new Japanese make car. A 1600 cc car with power steering
would cost around RO 8000-9000. A second hand car would range
from RO 1500-2700 (Model 1990 onwards). A four wheel drive vehicle
would cost RO 12000 upwards. Cost of servicing a car with no additions
would be a minimum RO 20. Vehicle maintenance is expensive and
depends on the user.
