There
are several pleasant locations. Kothrud, Pashan, Ferguson College
road, Model colony, Aundh, and Koregaon Park seem to be favoured
by executives. The rates range from Rs. 20 to 25 per sq. ft.
Usually, a deposit for 19 to 24 months is asked for. This works
out to, for example Rs. 6000 -8000 per month for a 2 bedroom
place in Ferguson college area. For those who prefer cantonment
type areas, like in Khadki, rents are much lower, around Rs.
4000 for an equivalent place.
INFRASTRUCTURE,
SERVICES
Gas:
Private gas agencies supply on demand, for instance Kabsons
and Reliance. A connection costs around Rs. 3500 and refills
of 5 kg around Rs. 100.
Electricity:
There are few unscheduled power cuts in Pune but in summertime
some days power may not be available on designated days of the
week.
Telephones:
Telephone connections take on an average a month . Private telephone
providers generally service commercial establishments. Cellphones
are available in Pune without difficulty. Internet has taken
off in a big way in Pune and connectivity is satisfactory. Almost
every large road in Pune has internet cafes at every block.
Domestic
help: Domestic help is available for about Rs. 500 -800
monthly. This includes cleaning the house and washing for a
2 bedroom house with 4 persons. Creches are available of reasonable
quality.
