Hyderabad
RESIDENTIAL
ACCOMMODATION
Generally
company executives staying in Hyderabad seem to prefer Ameerpet,
Begumpet, Srinagar Colony, Cantonment, Banjara Hills and Jubilee
Hills. The quality of the building construction ranges from
excellent to ridiculous. For a town of the size, the costs are
low, average rents for a flat range from Rs.4000 to 10,000 in
the upmarket areas. Only a modest deposit is asked for.
Hyderabad
is a city where one can easily get independent houses with a
little garden of your own, just 10 km away from the city centre.
People from crowded cities like Mumbai, if they try this out
are noticed to settle down permanently.
INFRASTRUCTURE,
SERVICES
Hyderabad
is a boom town and has expanded madly in all directions, outstripping
all plans. Public amenities are lagging behind. Road widening
began a couple of years ago and several overbridges are being
built. The storm water drainage is inadequate.
Electricity:
In summer there may be power cuts. Recently the tariff was increased.
Water:
Some parts of Hyderabad have insufficient water supply. The
municipal piped supply falls short of the demand, hence, in
most places the hours of supply are limited. Bore wells are
installed to tap ground water.
Gas:
New connections are not easy to obtain. Refills take a week
or so for the Public sector gas companies. Private gas agencies
supply cylinders on demand.
