Schools
: Chennai schools have a good reputation. Some well known
ones are St. Bede's , Don Bosco, Good Shepherd, Vidyamandir, DAV.The
ISCE syllabus is followed in schools like Holy Angels, St. Patricks.
CBSE syllabus is followed in schools like D.A.V., Vidyamandir,
PadmaSeshadri.The state syllabus is followed in schools like Don
Bosco and Rosary.
The
average fees per month in these schools :- primary classes Rs.
250, upto Std 5th Rs. 350, and for higher classes upto Rs 600/-.
Admissions:
For the large and reputed schools, admissions are very difficult
to get. Applications begin from February-- march for the following
year. It is said only a few schools accept donations, which range
from Rs. 1,500 to 10,000.

Chennaikaars). Final exams are usually in March - April. Donations
also are required, ranging from 20,000 to 1 lakh.
Colleges
: Apart from the usual intermediate education pattern of two
years (called junior college), professional courses like Engineering
and Medicine are available. An entrance exam has to be passed.
Depending on a mix of the 12th class marks and entrance exam marks,
ranks are allotted. Private colleges charge much higher fees.
Some
illustrative colleges are Ethiraj College, Presidency, Queen Mary's
, Stella Maris, SIET, Meenakshi, and the famous Pachaiyappa's.
