Bangalore
always used to have good educational facilities. Schools follow
three standards, the CBSE, ICSE and SSC syllabi. For illustration,
some sought after schools are Joseph Indian high, Bishop Cotton,
Frank Antony.
Admissions
are difficult. Usually parents start preparing their kids from
age 2, to join at age 4. The fees are in the range of Rs 50 -500
p.m.Donations are usual, and range from RS 5,000 to 50,000. As
usual the parents have to face an interview along with the kid.
Exams are held usually in September, December and March.
Higher
education:
There
are several options for students passing out of school. Colleges
like St. Josephs, Mt. Carmel, Jyothi Nivas prepare students for
degree and other courses.
Professional
colleges:
While
there are a number of engineering, medical and other professional
colleges, the admissions are allotted on a complicated matrix
of marks and other criteria. It is rather confusing even for locals,
leave alone relocators. However, there is a quota for students
hailing from outside Karnataka.
