Headhunter.net
Forms Alliance With American Hospital Association And Its Affiliated
Organizations
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS
WIRE)--Jan. 8, 2001--Furthering its commitment to become the market
leader among health care professionals, Atlanta-based Headhunter.net
(NASDAQ: HHNT), a leading online job awareness and recruiting
site, today announced a partnership with the American Hospital
Association (AHA).
The
association is the nation's largest hospitals and health systems
group with 5,000 institutional members, the American Organization
of Nurse Executives (AONE), the American Society for Healthcare
Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA) and AHA's 12 other personal
membership groups with a combined total of more than 35,000 members.
Headhunter.net
will be the exclusive provider of these organizations' online
career sites which are expected to be up, and running by the end
of January.
According
to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data, health care is among
the fastest growing segments in the workforce, currently employing
12 million people and providing job opportunities for as many
as four million new employees over the next eight years. While
the demand for health care workers is increasing, the available
talent pool is decreasing, leading to a serious employee shortage
in critical health care areas such as nursing. Statistics suggest
that the increasing number of health care specialists retiring
combined with an aging population contribute to the difficulty
in maintaining a strong workforce in the health care field.
"Clearly,
Headhunter.net recognized a tremendous opportunity to offer the
health care field a streamlined and faster approach to finding,
screening and hiring health care workers," said Bob Montgomery,
President and CEO of Headhunter.net. "Partnering with the
AHA and its affiliates gives Headhunter.net the opportunity to
utilize its tremendous strengths in business development, information
technology, and sales and marketing to provide this deserving
field the quality employees it needs."
"Headhunter.net's
commitment to be a market leader and the strength of its national
reach made them an ideal partner," said Neil Jesuele, Executive
Vice President, American Hospital Association.
Last
August, Headhunter.net acquired MiracleWorkers.com, a leading
health care recruiting site on the Web.
Among
the online career centers that Headhunter.net will power is the
American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration
(ASHHRA). ASHHRA members are human resources professionals who
work in the individual hospitals and are responsible for hiring
the hospital staff. Additionally, members of the American Organization
of Nurse Executives (AONE) are leaders within the nursing field
who have major recruiting responsibilities in hospitals and health
systems. ASHHRA and AONE, as well as all the AHA affiliate organizations,
will have co-branded sites where their members will receive discounted
rates to post jobs and to search for jobs for free.
Other
AHA-related membership organizations participating in this strategic
partnership include:
--
American Society for Healthcare Engineering
-- American Society for Healthcare Environmental Services
-- American Society for Healthcare Food Service Administrators
-- American Society for Healthcare Risk Management
-- American Society of Directors of Volunteers Services
-- Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management
-- Health Care Executive Assistants
-- American Society for Healthcare Central Service Professionals
-- Society for Healthcare Consumer Advocacy
-- Society for Health Strategy & Market Development
-- Society for Social Work Leadership in Health Care
-- AHA At-Large Members
"Given
the workforce challenges in hospitals and health systems, we are
excited about this relationship as an effort to help our members
cost effectively meet the growing demand for qualified individuals
in numerous clinical and non-clinical positions," AHA's Jesuele
added. "Headhunter.net meets the diverse needs of our individual
membership groups and will serve our members nationwide."
