Indian
professionals have performed extremely well during the last few
years and their performance record is generating demand for more
of their services. The domestic software development industry
is itself growing at a scorching pace. Almost at the rate of 55
percent p.a.. India also has the second largest pool of English
speaking scientific community in the world. This is because, education
through the medium of English, is a default feature. Well honestly
this feature is probably the only one good thing the British did
for 'US'.
Global
IT giants and leading IT companies of the US have already established
their Indian operations in preference to a lot of other developing
nations Just to cite a few names to prove the point:
Microsoft
Oracle
Novell
Digital
IBM
Motorola
Sun
Microsystems
Adobe
A
point to note is that several of these companies have set-up their
development centers in Indian cities. In some cases like Microsoft
and Adobe, Indian development centers are one of the few located
outside the US. Leading IT companies in India have been executing
offshore software projects for international clients. Most IT
turnkey projects have been executed with a low cost and timesavings
advantage in addition to excellent project management and technology
skills. In fact, surveys have shown that punctuality factor in
cases of projects executed in India averaged as much as 90 percent
as compared to 70 percent in general.
Quality is the hallmark of leading Indian IT companies - ISO 9000
certification is the order of the day. Leading Indian companies
crowd the SEI-CMM band of top class software houses. The Indian
IT infrastructure is indeed impressive and exponentially growing
- IT companies are spread across major cities like Bangalore,
Chennai (Madras), Mumbai (Bombay), Hyderabad, Pune, Calcutta,
Delhi and Bhubhaneswar.
Things
are getting better, they are getting better all the time...
